This time we're switching gears with Big Bang's leader, G-Dragon. G-Dragon (also called GD) released his first solo album "Heartbreaker" back in 2009 on his 21st birthday. Three years later, he has plans for a new album to be released on the same day - so, to celebrate, I thought I'd take a look back at one of his older music videos with the very pretty "Butterfly."
The entire music video looks a bit like a pop-up storybook, combining 3D and paper doll effects in its mixture of animation and live action. Not only that, but the scenes in the video are like that of a fantasy, with GD dressed in a gentlemanly outfit reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland's Mad Hatter. The plot is simple and sweet, and not unlike a storybook tale itself. GD brings a girl on an adventure to a fantastical land; however, as they kiss, he bursts into a rabble of butterflies (yes, that is the actual word for a group of them!). The next scene shows the girl back at her window where she first met GD in his butterfly form, making us question whether or not it was a daydream or perhaps something more, as the camera pans up to show him sitting on the roof.
This is one of my favourite G-Dragon MVs and I'm definitely anticipating some equally creative videos for his future album!
