That's our Eric Hovde. Great piece by jsonline's Dan Bice:
U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde is lashing out ata liberal national website (Huffington Post) and its chief for postinga video this week in which the Republican businessman complainedabout what he said were too many sob stories about the plight of poorindividuals.
In a pressrelease, Hovde - a millionaire many times over - accused the HuffingtonPost of taking his remarks out of context to try to make him appearanti-poor during his Friday speech to the Greater Brookfield Chamber ofCommerce.
Hovde then challenged Arianna Huffington to adebate. “I will gladly debate Ms. Huffington any time and any place infront of a room full of journalists on what she has done for the less fortunateversus what I have done," said Hovde, who ticked off a list of hischaritable deeds.
Hovde told the Brookfield business group: "I see areporter here. I just pray that you start writing about these issues. I justpray. Stop always writing about, 'Oh, the person couldn't get, you know, theirfood stamps or this or that.' You know, I saw something the other day - it'slike, another sob story, and I'm like, 'But what about what's happening to thecountry and the country as a whole?' That's going to devastate everybody."
Hovde said he was decrying the "spin of liberal, elitemedia." “Nothing ever gets fixed in our country because you can’t eventalk about the serious issues without suffering attacks against your character."
