Best Buy, worried about losing sales to online retailers, thinks cutting more sales people a good idea.

To show how out of touch Best Buy management is, they’reabout to make their stores even more of a nightmare than they were before.

Anyone go to Best Buy and either never find a salesperson,or wait endlessly for one to free themselves from the customer that wouldn’tleave?
Best Buy now thinks that that wasn’t bad enough. This iswhat happens when, after a Great Recession takes out the competition, consumersare at the mercy of lousy management.
Yahoo News: Electronics retailer Best Buy is laying off 600staffers in its Geek Squad technical support division and 1,800other store workers, totaling about 1.4 percent of its 167,000 employees. BestBuy is cutting costs and restructuring as it tries to combat the"showrooming" of its stores, as consumers test out products at itsstores but go home and buy them cheaper online or at discounters. The companyis trying to trim $800 million in costs. Interim CEO Mike Mikan has vowed thatthe retailer is committed to fundamentally changing operations to improveresults.
Sadly, those salespeople who really knew their stuff, and made Best Buy a competitor, are the ones on the losing end of CEO Mike Mikan's  "blame someone else" management style.

Wall Street Loves Cheap Foreign Labor and Profits, then Whines about Weak U.S. Hiring.

You don’t have to know much about investing or Wall Streetto know, that after encouraging and profiting off corporate offshoring andcheap foreign labor, that it’s a bit hypocritical to act surprised we’reexperiencing slow job growth.

I mean really, let’s get serious;
AP: The Dow Jones industrial average fell 124 points, wiping out its gain for the week, after the U.S. government reported that only80,000 jobs were created in June. It was the third straight month ofweak hiring.
And the bright spot…longer work hours?
BRIGHT SPOTS: There were a few bright spots in thebleak jobs report, according to Sharon Stark, chief market strategist atbrokerage firm Sterne Agee. She says the number of work hours and averagehourly earnings increased last month.

Former Extremist Republican Rep. John Gard puts "fiercely conservative" individual on State Judicial Commission. The Law is Republican?

The following is a perfect example of how acceptable, andconditioned we’ve become, to the radical nature of the Republican Party and what we'll let them get away with.

Former Republican extremist, Rep. John Gard, wrote somethingthat if put into words by a Democrat, would result in decades of liberaltrashing. Just imagine:
jsonline: Gard told an aide to Walker that he had found people for thestate Judicial Commission who were "fiercely conservative" and"will never wimp out." "These are not people who require anyhand holding - they are fiercely conservative and will never wimp out. Therewill be no surprises." Of (one of the people he found), Gard wrote:"I laid out what we were looking for and (he) said he would do it ifneeded."
This is corruption, plain and simple. "Fiercely conservative"…on the state Judicial Commission ofall places. Nothing is out of bounds, nothing is too ethically challenged. And forconservative voters, their authority is beyond question, so what’s the bigdeal? I can hear them now, “it’s legal isn’t it?”

It looks like Gard still has Justice Prosser's back. Gardhelped turn the commission investigating Supreme Court Justice David Prosser around.
Gardwas an aide to Prosser in the 1980s, when Prosser was Republican leader in thestate Assembly. In 1987, Gard was elected to the Assembly and served withProsser for nearly a decade, including when Prosser was speaker.

Sen. Wanggaard was asked to leave office by voters! What's wrong with the will of the people now?

Ever wonder how Republican polling places handledidentification, electioneering, intimidation, possible computer election fraudetc.? Me too, but it never occurs to liberals to watchdog Republican pollingplaces. Perhaps the next time, you with me?

I’m so tired of hearing them whine about election integritywhen they don’t even care to check computerized voting machines with paperballots. But that's another story.
So imagine my surprise when Sen. Van Wanggaard had the ballsto make a public statement trashing the electoral process and Racine citizens over “alleged” and “perceived”irregularities by partisan tea party losers bused in from out-of-state. Ifanything should leave a bad taste in Racine's voters mouths, it’s abad loser kicking and screaming his way out of office. The following responsealone says, “go away.”
Wanggaard thinks you're ignorant.
Journal Times: State Sen. Van Wanggaard editorial: Almost three weeks ago, I askedfor a recount in my senate election under the philosophy of “trust but verify.”Unfortunately, following the recount, we only have a verified vote tally … mycampaign received reports of suspect activities at polling places … Electioneeringand valid (were they?) legal challenges to voters were ignored by election officials, many ofwhom signed recall petitions. Election observers witnessed polling places beingopen after the polls closed … There was a suspiciously high number of same-dayregistrations and numerous reports of same day voter registration requirementsbeing disregarded.
Wow, suspiciously high registration? We wouldn’t want thatto happen. Besides his outrage over hearsay, Wanggaard somehow knew how “perfect”every other city’s poll books were. Proof please?:
For hundreds of clerks across Wisconsin, including everyother community in Racine County, the poll books were in perfect order. Racinewas accepting hand-written receipts, advertisements, and mail addressed to“resident” or “occupant” as residence proof in violation of law.
Proof please, in Racine and around the state, Mr. Wanggaard.
But Wanggaard is an authoritarian, so his next move is tocast doubt on the citizens of Racine, if they’ll let him. Hey Racine, Wanggaardthinks you’re ignorant and a cheat. He does resent…represent you right:
To further protect our election integrity, a municipalitymust send out address verification postcards to new registrants within 10 daysof the election. If those postcards are returned, the voter is struck from thepolls. Wisconsin’s election day laws are designed to protect thereliability of our electoral process and to prevent and deter fraud. They aresimple and easy to read. Yet in the City of Racine, many were disregarded.Whether this was because of ignorance, negligence or misconduct we may neverknow.
The final slap in your face? Imagine if what happened inRacine happened in…say, Waukesha? Is this asshole out to lunch?:
Imagine the uproar if these mistakes were found inMilwaukee, Waukesha, Madison, La Crosse, or Appleton in November.
I've had it with these snakes.

Mark Neumann wants to take Economic Stupidity to U.S. Senate.

Mark Neumann is another one of those millionaire “citizenlegislators.” He’s a business man, and as such, knows money inside and out. He’llbring that business expertise to government.

Problem is, he’s either dumb as a board, or is knowinglylying about finance and his business acumen. According to theheadline in Politifact:
If the U.S. didn't borrow $1.2 trillion every year "tofund government operations," that money would be available "forentrepreneurs and business people to put to work creating jobs and building andexpanding their businesses." Mark Neumann onWednesday, June 13th, 2012 in an interview
Keep in mind: Neumann has been in state politics for years, andhe liked the freeloading Republican lifestyle of doing nothing hard aslawmakers so much, he wants to do nothing in the U.S. Senate.   Since I hate Politifact so much, I’m only going to showcasethe economic expert’s opinion of Neumann’s claim to fame about taking hiseconomic business experience to Washington.
Neumann wasn’t shy about putting his stupidity on display:
Neumann: "They (fed) are borrowing that money andthat's the point exactly. If they did not borrow that money, that money wouldbe available out here in the private sector for entrepreneurs and businesspeople to put to work creating jobs and building and expanding theirbusinesses.

"As it is -- and listen, I'm a business owner myself, I've been inbusiness for 35 years here in Wisconsin creating Wisconsin jobs -- and thereality is, I understand that I'm now competing against the federal governmentto borrow money to expand our businesses. We just expanded into the Madisonmarket to the Dane County area with our business and it was a monumental taskto arrange the financing to do that because the federal government is taking$1.2 trillion first, before any of us entrepreneurs get to compete to borrowmoney."
Wrong!!! But hey, he’s a business man and a citizenlegislature, say it ain’t so:
"The U.S. government and American entrepreneurs are notrunning after the same pool of money," said AbdurChowdhury, chairman of the economics department at Marquette University inMilwaukee. The U.S. borrows largely from overseas -- by selling securities --while domestic businesses borrow mostly from domestic banks, he said.
That wasn't the only economic expert to trash Neumann:
The notion that the amount of federal borrowing limits money available to beloaned to businesses "is absurd on its face," said Dean Baker,co-director of the liberal Center for Economic and Policy Research inWashington. "Every single measure of the interest rate (Aaa bonds, Baabonds, mortgage loans, car loans etc.) is lower today than at any point in the(George W.) Bush administration," he said by email. "If governmentborrowing were pulling money away from businesses, it would be by pushing upinterest rates."

BarryBosworth, senior fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution inWashington, agreed. Neumann’s statement "makes little sense right nowbecause the basic problem is the opposite -- no one wants to borrow, and henceinterest rates are near zero.  If we could get more people to borrow andinvest, the economy would quickly recover," he said.

AndrewReschovsky, professor of public affairs and applied economics at theUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison, said that among other reasons, Neumann isproven wrong by "basic economics." Increased federal borrowing shouldincrease demand for money and raise interest rates, which would discouragebusinesses from borrowing, but interest rates have been at or near historiclows, he said. We rate Neumann’s statement False.

You're My Butterfly

Because why not continue with my Big Bang streak I've got going on?

This time we're switching gears with Big Bang's leader, G-Dragon. G-Dragon (also called GD) released his first solo album "Heartbreaker" back in 2009 on his 21st birthday. Three years later, he has plans for a new album to be released on the same day - so, to celebrate, I thought I'd take a look back at one of his older music videos with the very pretty "Butterfly."

The entire music video looks a bit like a pop-up storybook, combining 3D and paper doll effects in its mixture of animation and live action. Not only that, but the scenes in the video are like that of a fantasy, with GD dressed in a gentlemanly outfit reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland's Mad Hatter. The plot is simple and sweet, and not unlike a storybook tale itself. GD brings a girl on an adventure to a fantastical land; however, as they kiss, he bursts into a rabble of butterflies (yes, that is the actual word for a group of them!). The next scene shows the girl back at her window where she first met GD in his butterfly form, making us question whether or not it was a daydream or perhaps something more, as the camera pans up to show him sitting on the roof.

This is one of my favourite G-Dragon MVs and I'm definitely anticipating some equally creative videos for his future album!

Lil Wayne's "Lollipop"

Wow! I can honestly say that even as an early feminist I am very surprised by the large amount of misogynistic music videos that exist. Music videos that I lived with a s a child and all children surrounded by both urban and hip hop culture live surrounded by. Here is yet another degrading music video that blew the charts in popularity at some point.

It is very clear that the lollipop he speaks of isn't simply candy. The lollipop serves as a phallic symbol representing male genitalia. Once again anyone can see how songs and videos like these put women in a place of pure degradation and objectification.

Baby Got Back, Now Let's Talk Controversy

So who is to say that this music video is meant to degrade and diminish in a way. The song seems like it is meant to make women with "big butts" feel good about their bodies because men will want them. Women are supposed to appreciate their bodies the way they are, no need to follow what magazines say because what is beautiful is the natural body of a woman, not a fixed image that only some women own.
